Public schools should alter their approach to sex education by introducing student to the topic earlier, offer more after school programs and have counselors available to students.
Sex Education is a program that has been going on for a long time, some young people take it seriously but most really don’t take it anywhere, and it goes into one ear and comes out the other. Sex Education is when people come together and get information or form attitudes and beliefs about sex. This type of Education is also there to help young people and people in general to make right decisions about sex identity, relationships and when it comes to intimacy. Sex Education can also help you, especially young people against abuse, exportation, unintended pregnancies, and sexual transmitted diseases not forgetting HIV and AIDS.
Before Sex Education was introduced the teen pregnancy rate wasn’t anywhere as near as it is today. Why is it now that the teen pregnancy rate increased dramatically even with the guidance of Sex Education? Researches has found that the United States has unacceptable high rates of teen pregnancy, they have decided to offer medically accurate sex education that promotes abstinence and provides young people with information they need to protect themselves. They think that the medically accurate sex education works better than most, “Abstinence –only” programs are not proven effective showing that young people are not following this and they are not protecting themselves when they are sexually active. Instead they just make the situation much worse.
People find that sex education doesn’t really help much, why? Because eventually when young adults get the message they lean on it for a couple of days or maybe a couple of weeks then just give up on what they have encountered.
Opinion: This paper is good for this topic because before teenagers get pregnant they have to have knowledge on the subject. In Sex education they will learn how to protect themselves. They will also understand the risks they will have to accept if they do become pregnant.
